The first day of summer has passed unnoticed. Normally we have thoughts about BBQs, swimming, picnics and parties. Instead, these days all we can think about is how to defend our gardens, lawns and landscapes from the relentless heat. The last thing we want to do is panic. Over-watering hurts plants, so we do a lot of hand-watering for plants that require more attention. Some of the most common weapons in our arsenal include mulching, increasing the water cycle time, deep root feeding, jug irrigation systems and soil amendments such as Soil Moist, expanded shale and Water-In. Add some organic fertilizer like Microlife and you will increase the drought tolerance of your plants and lawns.
